Course on evidence-based chronic illness care. Developed a one-week summer course on Evidence-Based Chronic Illness Care. This course was a collaborative effort between the Pan American Health Organization's Chronic Disease Project and the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health of the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami. The
course was designed for health professionals involved with chronic disease management and quality of care at different
levels of the public health system.

Integrating mental health into primary care. Re-wrote this comprehensive global report, which was co-produced by the World Organization of Family Doctors (Wonca) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to draw attention to the hundreds of millions of people who are affected by mental disorders but cannot receive the care and treatment they need. The report presents the justification and advantages of providing mental health services in primary care. At the same time, it provides advice on how to implement and scale-up primary care for mental health care, and describes how a range of health systems around the world have successfully undertaken this transformation.
Peer support programmes in diabetes. Re-wrote this WHO review of the evidence-base to support peer support interventions for people with diabetes.
Chronic condition self-management support: what every health professional needs to know. Designed and developed this continuing education course for psychologists and other mental health professionals. The course reviews different settings and approaches for providing self-management training and support to patients, including primary care and community-based interventions.
Department of HIV/AIDS, World Health Organization: reviewed and summarized the evidence base to support WHO's chronic care approach for antiretroviral therapy in low- and middle-income countries.
Improving the prevention and management of chronic disease in low-income and middle-income countries: a priority for primary health care. Co-authored this Lancet publication as part of a series on new challenges for primary health care. The article says that management of chronic diseases is fundamentally different from acute care, and to meet the challenge of chronic diseases, primary health care will have to be strengthened substantially.
