Dr Epping-Jordan's work has influenced patients, health care providers, policy-makers and other health leaders in ways that were previously considered to be impossible.  For example, she transformed international thinking about the importance of chronic diseases as part of the global health agenda, and led the development and global dissemination of a new model that outlines the essential components of an effective health care delivery system for chronic disease prevention and management.
